Microsoft Power BI is Microsoft's suite of business analytics tools, which you can use to visualize and analyze data and share the resulting insights with others. With Power BI, you can view reports and dashboards that are based on the following sources:

  • Fixed datasets from a Planview content pack
  • Datasets from customized data sources that you created using the Power BI Desktop application
  • Datasets from customized data sources that others created in Power BI Desktop and shared with you
  • Datasets that you exported from Planview Enterprise One – PRM
  • Datasets that others exported from Planview Enterprise One – PRM and shared with you
NOTE
The reports, dashboards, and datasets you can view and use depend on your grants and access rights.

Depending on your needs, you can use Power BI with the cloud-based Power BI service, the Power BI Desktop application, or a private Power BI tile. Power BI Desktop is the most fully featured option. For example, you can view Power BI reports with all three options, you can create new Power BI reports with the Power BI service and Power BI Desktop only, and you can customize data sources with Power BI Desktop only.

Tasks You Can Perform with Power BI in Planview Enterprise One – PRM The following table compares the functionality of each option.
